Some of you may have heard of Emily through our social media or magazine. In 2016, at just 31 she was diagnosed with womb cancer. Since then Emily became a regular visitor to our Cosham Cancer Support Centre and a blogger. She has shared her own experiences of cancer with many people she did not know personally and has provided advice, support and inspiration for many people in a similar situation to her.

We are pleased to say that Emily is now in remission, has a new job and has embarked on a Master Degree in psychology. Despite all this she is still passionate about helping other people with cancer and so we’ve teamed up to create Wessex Cancer Trust’s first journal.

The aim of the journal is to create something unique for people living with cancer to share their thoughts and reflect each day. Emily’s vision is that it will be full of positive quotes and new ideas to try. Most importantly it will include advice, photos and stories of hope from real people who have been supported by Wessex Cancer Trust.

If you are someone who has been supported by Wessex Cancer Trust and feels sharing your story could help others then we would love for you to join this special project. You can be involved regardless of your type or stage of cancer as long as you feel comfortable.

The journal will be collated from April-July and will then go into production. It will be available in our centres, shops and hopefully through some of our commercial partners. There will be an official launch of the journal at our Fashion Gala which will take place on the 16th November at the Grand Harbour Hotel Southampton. You will have the opportunity to be a model at this event or just attend and enjoy the evening.

What’s involved?

We will need you to commit to around two days of your time to take part in a photo shoot and also have your story recorded by one of the Wessex Cancer Trust team.

You will get the opportunity to review the pictures and wording before anything goes to print and so you’ll have lots of control. We do ask you to think about the impact of sharing your very personal story before you apply and make sure you are comfortable with potentially being in on social media or in a magazine.

The application form will take around 30 minutes to complete and can’t be saved once started so please pick a time that’s right for you. Please take your time to complete in full as it will be used to help Emily and the team find the perfect people for this very special project.

The closing date will be the 11th March and we will get in touch shortly after this date, if you have any questions before then please feel free to call Sofie on 02380 672200 or email [email protected]
